Aeluros to Demonstrate its High-Performance, Low-Power, 10G-to-XAUI Physical Layer (PHY) Devices at OFC/NFOEC 2005
Aeluros to showcase its industry-leading low-power 10G PHY ICs in cooperation with Opnext (Booth #1313)
Mountain View, California, March 7, 2005 - Aeluros, the leading developer of CMOS-based 10 Gbps-to-XAUI PHY devices, announced today that it will be demonstrating its Puma AEL1001 and AEL1002 devices in collaboration with Opnext in booth (#1313) at OFC/NFOEC in Anaheim, CA, from March 8-10, 2005. The demonstration will include Puma AEL1001–powered 10 Gigabit Ethernet optical modules and an AEL1002 XFI-to-XAUI demonstration system as part of a 10 Gigabit Ethernet network driving a range of fiber optic cable types through an industry standard Ethernet switch.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Aeluros in this demonstration of both our company’s technologies,” said Ed Cornejo, Director of Product Marketing at Opnext. “The performance of Aeluros’ Puma AEL1001 device is key in deploying our 10GbE demonstration at OFC/NFOEC.”
“We are excited to work with Opnext, a leading provider of 10 Gbps optical modules, to showcase our 10 Gbps PHY device,” said Stefanos Sidiropoulos, CEO of Aeluros. “The low power and excellent performance of the Puma AEL 1001 device in a variety of module and system environments make it the best choice for 10 Gbps applications.”
The PUMA AEL1001 device provides standards-based, PHY-layer functionality for all versions of the XAUI-based X2, XPAK and XENPAK optical modules, while the Puma AEL1002 device provides a high-performance bridge for interfacing to 10 Gbps serial XFP optical modules. Implemented in standard 0.13-micron CMOS technology, their low power consumption and excellent performance make them an ideal choice for high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet & 10 Gigabit Fibre Channel applications. Each device dissipates only 800 mW, is assembled in industry-standard PBGA packages, and includes built-in PRBS & BER features and XAUI pre-emphasis to support driving up to 40 inches of trace across FR4-based boards. Both devices are available now.
